Why Can't There Be an In Between?

There are two sides to the political spectrum, the conservative and the liberal. The reactionaries and the radicals. The right wing and the left wing. In our country we do not go "extreme" on either end. We are not fascists or communists, but we do have both sides to our own extremes, republicans and democrats.

The far right would be fascists, the far left, communists. The left is democrat and the right is republican.

Now, let me pose you with a question: We are often faced with the choice of republican or democratic,   but what happens when you are in the middle?

Often times one is asked that question, whether they are republican or democratic. Most people have their own set of views and morals, some of which may fall under the democrats' priority set, and some the republicans'. But when faced with the choice, they pick one. Let's say I agree with the democrats on 3 topics and the republicans on 2. I would say I am democratic. But if one of the topics that I agree with the republicans on has significance to me in specific, I will say I am republican. But why should I have to choose when I don't completely agree with them? This may seem like a small issue when it comes to ordinary everyday people, but it's larger than it seems.

Take this scenario:
The republicans have an idea on how to solve issue A that is accepted by the majority of people and the democrats have a way to solve issue B, but the people have to choose whether to vote democratic or republican. Now they have to decide which issue is more important to solve, risking the other issue worsening.

Along with this conundrum, we have politicians who face the same fate as we do. They are forced to choose democratic or republican if they want to be considered for office. In their cases, when they choose one or the other they feel the need to accept all the policies, whether they agree with them or not. They go against their own morals and their own beliefs to conform with the party they choose. They do not only lie to themselves, but they lie to all of us. Why is it that the only people we consider for office are those who fit into these "parties"? Every democrat is not the same, but the will all be pressured to follow every "democratic" view. Same as the republicans. Do we really want people like this? Shouldn't they do what's best for the country instead of whats best for their "party"?

The two party system has forced out country into a lie. Forcing so many people to choose a party that they don't fully support, just because they are told they should choose. Odds are, in this country of well over 315 million people, there are not only 2 sets of view points.

Bitter-Sweet Ignorance

When we are born, we are not born with the knowledge of everything this Earth beholds and someday will behold. We are born with a sweet ignorance you could say. As we grow and learn we keep this ignorance beautiful and un-poisoned. A child sees the world as the wonderful, glorious place it is.

Eventually this sweet ignorance must end. and we have to realize what's come of this world and accept everyone as they are, for we are all the same, in the end we all bleed red.

Some of us realize this and live our lives with an open mind. Others are blinded by the ignorance they can't let go, and when the time to let it go comes, and they hold on, it becomes bitter. Bitter ignorance often comes off as idiocy, rudeness, and stupidity. Ignorance blinds many people in this world, and brings much damage to mankind.

Ignorant people will see someone of a different color as wrong. Someone of a different sexuality as mistaken. Someone who acts differently, they see as someone to make fun of and to hate. Hatred makes the blood run cold, and that. That can be the difference, our blood all red, is warm. But when you let it grow cold, you've let yourself go to far. It doesn't matter what color we are, what language we speak, which gender we prefer, or what we enjoy.

Sweet ignorance is beautiful. Bitter ignorance is not. Someday we'll all understand. Someday we'll all come to the realization that difference is glory.

Where are the Morals? Where Is the Justice?

If we look at our law system from a logical perspective what do we find? Inevitably there are people who will find no faults. Those people who look at our world and our country through rose-colored glasses. But we can not rely on this sort of ignorance.

There are many people who go into the law profession thinking they are going to help people. They are going to serve society. But how reliable is that assumption? Everyday there are innocent people charged. And everyday there are lawyers that defend criminals. Doing everything in their power to get them the smallest sentence and the least punishment possible, even when the lawyer/attorney may have to deceive people to do so. Even when they know that said criminal should have to face the consequences of their actions. Eventually, law breaks down into this: people will do what they need to keep their jobs.

We are built on a system where everyone has the right to an attorney, and yes, that is only fair. These lawyers will find evidence and truth. The problem lies in the fact that they are the only ones who will see all of the truth, they only show us the portion of their findings that will play in favor of their clients. This being said, we can assume that there are many times that the jury and judge do hear the entire story, yet they make a judgment off of the little bit they do hear.

How many innocent people are put away? And how many criminals are set free? These questions are haunting. When it comes to the court room, the fate of the person being prosecuted relies on which attorney is better at what they do and which has done their research the best.

Defense attorneys defend criminals, people that they know are clearly guilty. Just the same, prosecutors go against people that they know are innocent.

Our society doesn't rely on morals, though we would like to think it does. It is based on money. Who has the means to pay for the best attorney and who will defend the criminal for said money.

This in mind, do you believe in justice? Do you believe in our system? Can we truly feel safe knowing criminals constantly go free of charge?
