I'm going to start by asking a few basic questions:
If you can vote, do you?
Do you believe your vote matters?
Do you trust our government to make choices that will benefit us?
Would you ever consider being a politician?
Do you view the majority of politicians as good and truthful people?
Are you up to date on current issues in our country?
These are questions that everyone should consider. We live in a place called the land of the free. But, as we all must understand, true freedom would mean chaos. This is why we have governments, to state the obvious. Yet as seen in a poll done by Pew Researcher the large majority of people as of last year do not trust our government.

So why is it that this is the case? Honestly it is partially our fault as people of this nation. A large portion of our nation doesn't make use of their freedom to vote and then has the audacity to complain about who is in office and the choices they are making.
Beyond this still, should citizens who aren't informed on issues and candidates platforms go out and vote just because they're told to? Absolutely not. If you have absolutely no idea what is going on in our nation don't go choose random people just for the sake of voting.
In my belief people who vote strictly for their party no matter who the candidate is shouldn't vote either, I'm not saying they shouldn't have that right, I just believe that it causes more harm than good. That being said, it's fair to guess that there are a lot of people who do just that. Just because you are a Republican doesn't mean that every single Republican that runs for an office deserves it. The same goes with Democrats.
The best voters for America are those who vote based on their knowledge of topics, candidates platforms and ideas, and most of all morals.
Now I won't be so ignorant as to say that every politician goes on their campaign and tells the truth, to be honest I believe that most of them don't. But that brings up another issue in our nation, we should be able to trust those who are supposed to make decisions for us. And we can't. From what I've seen and heard there are many people in my generation who have great ideas and wonderful potential in the field of politics, but what I hear when someone says "You could be a great leader or politician" is you would be able to lie, cheat and go beyond your own morals in order to join a political party who will corrupt your way of thinking so it fits the bill according to them. So many good people are pushed away from leadership positions because they pride themselves and they have good morals.
Politics are messy. Do you ever look into who is funding your candidate? Because I believe that could tell a lot about someone. Politicians have to be loyal to those who fund them or they could lose everything. That is one of the biggest issues with our system, money. Have you ever paid attention to third party candidates? Last presidential election I wasn't at voting age yet, but I did my research anyway and there was a third party candidate who I strongly believe deserved to be president. I agreed with just about all his ideas and stands on issues. But people don't even bother looking at that because they think that person will never get voted in anyway and they would be wasting their vote. But if everyone has that attitude we will never break the two party system, the constant battle between Democrat and Republican. Am I the only one who sees that it has gone too far? They can't get along well enough to agree on anything, and this could be harmful to all of us. They concentrate so much on who's right or wrong and who is winning that I don't believe they can't have the time to worry about what is actually good for this country. Voting for a third party candidate wouldn't be wasting a vote if neither of the main party candidates deserve the spot anyway.
The people and corporations are running this country by funding Republican and Democratic candidates while third party candidates drown because they don't have the money to swim. This means we as citizens do not truly have the choice of who we want to be making these big decisions. I for one want to be able to have this choice and to be able to trust the people we put in office. I don't want one party's ideals running this country, the country should be run on morals. It's no wonder people don't trust idiots that constantly just bicker amongst themselves instead of making a difference. The best thing you can do for this country is get educated in what's going on and who is running for political offices, and don't focus on what party they belong to, focus on what they are going to do for us. The parties lie to keep their supporters happy, we need a revolution of honesty.
